This year we hosted one of the most diverse event lineups at Scotiabank Centre in recent history.

Our concert lineup featured artists like Dean Brody and Dallas Smith, Def Leppard, and Boney M, along with Broadway and theatrical productions such as Jersey Boys, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone with the musical score performed live by Symphony Nova Scotia and Cirque du Soleil’s ice performance CRYSTAL. The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo celebrated their 40th anniversary, and we saw the Halifax Mooseheads and Hurricanes make their return alongside the Thunderbirds.

A Conversation with President Barack Obama

One of the most historical moments for Scotiabank Centre in 2019 was hosting the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama.  As one of the most influential people on the planet, President Obama did not disappoint during the hour-long question and answer period session where he shared stories from his presidency and talked about his hopes for the future.

President Obama showed his wit and humour while speaking on serious and relevant topics such as climate change, global politics, and the importance of developing and nurturing our future leaders. Many businesses from across the Maritimes sponsored tables and tickets that were provided to young leaders and students from various backgrounds, allowing them the opportunity to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event.

“Worry less about what you want to be, worry about what you want to do”

- President Barack Obama, Scotiabank Centre, Nov. 13th, 2019

This event was not just memorable for our guests, our staff who worked behind the scenes to make it a success also made memories that will last a lifetime. The planning took over a year, our team at Scotiabank Centre worked through multiple levels of security detailing, developed a community outreach program, created a special street team for the day of the event, and worked to ensure every detail was accounted for.

The event organizers, Nova Scotia Co-operative Council, were thrilled with the success of the event and extremely appreciative of our teams’ efforts, reinforcing that our team is one of the best in the business.

Until we meet again, President Obama!

The Events Keep Coming!

At Scotiabank Centre, we are committed to bringing #Scotiable energy to our city with each event we host.

Last spring, the 2019 Memorial Cup took over Halifax as our very own Mooseheads battled for the national title. From Street Fest to the Fan Zone and beyond, Downtown Halifax hosted over 150,000 fans over ten days that we will never forget.

The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo celebrated its 40th anniversary. Over the years, the Tattoo has continuously grown and evolved its lineup, and 2019 was no different.  Fans were treated to international acts that embraced the theme Power of Peace.

In the fall, Cirque du Soleil’s: CRYSTAL surprised and delighted audiences with their world-famous production, but this time, it was on ice! Eighteen tractor-trailers moved Cirque du Soleil into our venue, making it one of the largest productions we have ever hosted.

2019 was one of the busiest years to-date for concerts! We rocked to shows by Foreigner, Metric, Sum 41, and Def Leppard; we tipped our cowboy hats to Dean Brody and Dallas Smith.

The Arkells did not disappoint with their Rally Cry Tour show, which included the longest audience-led conga line we have ever seen. This winter, we also hosted both Jonny Reid and Boney M. to help Halifax kick-off the holiday season.

We’re proud that our venue has hosted some of the best sports and entertainment events, providing the perfect backdrop to create incredible memories for our guests that will last a lifetime.

Our House

Our tenants are the heartbeat of our venue. The Halifax Mooseheads, Nova Scotia Royal International Tattoo, Halifax Hurricanes, and now the Halifax Thunderbirds are all integral parts of our brand, community and fan base.

We are very proud to offer such a diverse mix of talented professional sports and entertainment. This fall was one of the busiest event lineups to date. Our team adapted quickly for the transition of back-to-back-to-back-to-back evenings of sports, concerts, and live events. Check it out!
